Welcome! Brand new blog starting... now!

Well, I decided it was finally time to dip my toe into the wide, wide world of blogging. For those that don't know me, I am a CPA and an artist in Florida. My homepage is at www.GreenDragonArtist.com, and I will be adding show announcements and new work to my blog, as well as my thoughts.

Currently I am gearing up for the fall art show season here in sunny north Florida. The nights are starting to get cool and crisp (It was 55F the other night! Yay!) and thus heralds hordes of artists and patrons to bucolic art and craft fairs.

Today I went to the Milhopper Library to hang 6 works in a two month exhibition - my first real one ever. I will be hanging some at Tower Road Library on Monday. I was very happy that I had brought extras along, as there were several artists that cancelled, and the organizer needed more works. I had them with me!

My next art show is at Thornebrook Village in Gainesville, October 14-15th. This is a very pleasant show, as it's in an outdoor mall with rambling walkways and posh stores. I've got a great spot, just underneath the clock tower in the center. Hopefully it will be fabulous! This was my first art show ever, two years ago. I wasn't accepted by the jury last year, so this will be my big comeback.

The Saturday after that, Oct. 21, is a one-day show in McIntosh, called the 1890s festival. I've never done this one before, but hey, it's worth a try!

Next is November 11-12, the Micanopy Fall Harvest Festival. I did this one last year, and it was my best show to date. I have high hopes! This is in the downtown historical district, complete with antique shops and boiled peanuts.

Thanksgiving weekend holds the O'Connell Center Holiday Craft Show, on UF campus - I'm really looking forward to that one. I attended last year as a patron, not as a guest. This has the advantage of charging $3 admission for each patron, so people go there to BUY not just browse. :)

In December (10th) I will be in Ocala for a Psychic Faire (Silver Springs, actually), for some last minute holiday sales before resting for Yule. I'm looking forward to the season of cool weather and clear skies. Summer in Florida just exhausts me!

I have a couple new works in process, and two that I just printed.

The first one is named "Come Hither", and the second is "Ceres", the Goddess of Grain.
